Hoyas
Hoyas (a.k.a. Waxplant, Wax Flower, Porcelain Flower) make easy, rewarding and long-lived additions to shaded container gardens for the porch, patio or windowsill. They prefer high indirect sunlight and a good quality well-draining soil and should be allowed to become somewhat dry between waterings. Most Hoyas are twining climbers to trailing plants and can be used to good effect on a small trellis while hanging baskets make beautiful specimens as well. These are easy and rewarding plants as well as tough and forgiving if you forget to water. Many are grown for their uniquely shaped and colorful foliage and some are grown for their intense Jasmine-like fragrance (Fragrant Hoya). The Hindu Rope Plants and many other Hoyas are heirloom plants that our ancestors enjoyed and shared.
